Financial Information

The Brighton Steiner School has an inclusive finance structure which endeavours to permit all pupils to benefit from Steiner education regardless of financial background. However, Steiner schools in the UK receive no government funding or commercial sponsorship, unlike some Steiner schools in other countries. For this reason, parental fee contributions are essential for the running of the school.

At the Brighton Steiner School, the fee on entrance is fixed - excepting inflation changes - for the duration of the pupil's education. The Brighton Steiner School operates a means-tested Reduced Fee Concession scheme in accordance with its policy of striving for the broadest educational community possible.

Deposits

Families joining the school are required to pay a one off deposit of £200 per child on acceptance of a place. The school holds this deposit until such times as the child leaves the school, whereupon it is returned, providing there are no outstanding fees and proper notice of withdrawal is given. The deposit may also be used to pay for any damage caused or additional expenditure incurred due to the actions of the child.

Payment Terms

Fee Contributions and Materials Charges are invoiced termly in advance and are payable no later than the first day of the term to which they apply. All new pupils are expected to contribute the standard fee £2070 for the first term, thereafter the agreed Reduced Fee Concession may become applicable. Extras are charged termly in arrears and are payable immediately upon receipt. A 10% surcharge is levied on all invoices remaining unpaid at the close of business on the first day of term.

Monthly Payment - Holmwoods Credit Scheme

Under the Holmwoods Credit scheme, your family's annual contribution is divided into twelve equal payments, which are collected from your bank account by direct debit. Further details are available from Reception.

Reduced Fee Concession

At present there is only limited support available to existing parents from the fledgling Bursary scheme, however applications for a Reduced Fee Concession may be made to the Business Management Group. The application form can be collected from Reception.

Bursaries

In September 2005 the Brighton Steiner School Bursary Fund was launched. The main purpose of the independently managed fund is to maintain places for children who have been educated for a long time within the Steiner system and who would be exceptionally disadvantaged by having to leave this educational environment. It is anticipated that in its first years the fund will aim to 'top up' parental contributions rather than provide full fee coverage.
