PTA Committee meeting – 26/04/17

The PTA committee is gearing up for a few busy months ahead, in preparation for some major upcoming events. The committee now counts with ten members, with two more member seats to be filled. It would be great to have a couple more parents join and help us take all these important projects forward. Meetings are once a month and you only have to do as much as you can or would like to. It also means a great opportunity to get to know our school and its community better. If you are interested please write to us, or simply come to one of our meetings!

The PTA’s Wish List had one more wish granted over Easter. The set of tyres and wooden planks will be used by students for building and other learning activities. A special thanks to Kevin for having lovingly built the crate which now houses the newly acquired items. And we will soon have the long-awaited camp kits too! We continue to look into getting every item from our Wish List. So, if you wish for something which would make our school even greater, or if you could help us obtaining any of the items on the list, please let us know. The Wish List can be found on the notice board in the main building.

Upcoming events

Our first major event of the term will take place on Sunday the 14th of May at Stanmer Park. Yes, it is the much-loved Sponsored Walk! With a new two-mile route for the little ones and a hot bowl of soup at the end of it, it is a day not to miss. We need volunteers to help with transporting the gazebo, tables and cooking equipment, as well as setting up and taking down. If you would like to help, please drop us a line. Let’s all save the date and get talking to family, friends and neighbours to get those sponsorships pouring in!

June will then kick off with a big outdoors Jumble Sale. We have been fine-tuning our Jumble Sales skills over the last terms and we expect this to be a real success. We will need all the help we can get to make it just that! It will take place on the 10th of June and classes 1 to 10 will have the opportunity to take part and raise some money for their class.

Also happening in June is the Promise Auction. Work is underway to gather prizes and sell tickets. If you or anyone you know could contribute with prizes big or small, please let us know as soon as possible. The Auction will be held on the 17th of June in the school hall and promises to be a fun-filled evening with food, drinks, and the chance to snap up some awesome prizes!

Beyond the school gates, two upcoming outdoor festivals are also on our radar. The Whitehawk Festival is a great opportunity to mark the school’s presence in its immediate community. And the Apple Festival is a massive opportunity to raise funds while the teachers promote the school. The PTA is offering its assistance to any classes wishing to take these on and raise substantial funds for their trips, classrooms, etc.
